What motivates you to wake up and go to work?
I am incredibly passionate about our industry. What motivates me every day is knowing I get to come to work and know what I do makes a difference. I am motivated by my continued opportunities to learn. I enjoy sharing my passion with my peers and with my customers.
What do you do at our company?
I work as an account representative for commercial clients and residential design build. My main focus is building a solid relationship with these clients, built on trust and my expertise.
What has been your favourite project so far?
It is hard to pick just one favorite project! The projects I am the proudest of are the ones where the whole team gets to participate, and all the pieces come together for one end goal. The best part is forging and nurturing the client relationships and knowing you brought their dreams to life.
What’s something most people don’t know about you?
I am a quiet introvert that pushes herself everyday to be an extrovert.
How do you balance your career and your family/personal life?
It is a struggle in our industry that is for sure, there can be a lot of long days and seasons. How I try to balance it all is to be present for the people I care about. I also try to make time for myself, I like to get out in nature go for hikes and keep grounded.
What advice would you give to other women in the industry?
My advice would be, be your own advocate. If there is something you are striving for make your intentions known. Also, to surround yourself with people that will lift you up and cheer you on. The more we can encourage others and cheer each other on the better we are as a team and as an industry.
What does a typical day of work look like for you?
There really isn’t a typical day and that’s the best part about it. Every day is a little bit different. It keeps me on my toes, I thrive in an environment peppered with change and challenges.
What are three words you would use to describe Clintar?
Dedicated, multi-talented, family
What do you find most rewarding/challenging about your role?
The most rewarding part is the opportunity to be emersed in my industry, to give back to our community, and be involved and included in so many ways. The most challenging part is taking my introverted tendencies pushing them aside and excelling in an extroverted role.
If given the chance, who would you be for a day?
I don’t think I would want to be anyone else for a day. I am perfectly happy to be me.
If you could interview one person (dead or alive) who would it be and why?
I think I would like to interview my grandparents when they first came to Canada. To hear their stories in the moments just after they arrived to see what their lives were like and how they overcame so many obstacles to get where they were.
What would you like to be famous for?
I don’t think I would like to be famous, but I would like to be remembered as someone who empowered others to have a voice and to champion their own careers.
What inspires/motivates you?
My motivation comes from an innate need to grow and learn. I have an insatiable need to learn about the green industry, about trees, plants, and horticulture. There will always be something new to discover. My inspiration is the world around me, by just slowing down and taking time to notice the simple things, inspiration is all around.
